Rear Extension with Roof Lantern
Shell-only package: a rear extension built from the ground up to plastered, first-fix stage — steels, blockwork, roof lantern and sliding doors.
Project scope
- Excavation, foundations and drainage diversion
- Structural steels and new openings to the existing house
- Blockwork, insulation and a warm flat roof
- Roof lantern and sliding doors to the garden
- First-fix services, plastering and screed
Challenges & solutions
Tight site access
All materials came through a narrow side passage, so deliveries were planned in small, sequenced loads.
Existing drainage
A drain ran under the footprint of the new extension — we rerouted it with building control approval before foundations.
Supporting the house above
Steels were installed in stages with temporary supports so the rear of the house stayed fully supported throughout.
The result
A weathertight, plastered shell with first-fix services in place — ready for the client's own kitchen and finishing trades.
